Child Friendly Restaurants
Pinocchio: One of Brighton’s oldest Italian restaurants, this family-run place is very family friendly with welcoming staff and a lovely atmosphere. It serves fresh Italian food at very reasonable prices. Lots of activities provided for children too.
Food For Friends: Food for Friends is an award-winning vegetarian restaurant in the Lanes. Not only popular with the vegetarians. A lively restaurant with a great buzz, child friendly and great children’s menu
Oki-Nami Japanese Restaurant: Family friendly Japanese restaurant (owned by Brighton’s very own Fatboy Slim) is very child friendly in its. In addition to having crayons and paper, children love making their origami models. The kid’s menu is all nutritious, handmade, free range and fresh.
Ginger Dog: A local Kemptown pub offering real ales and great drinks as well as good hearty menu of traditional pub food. Child friendly with a good menu, activities and facilities.
The Old Bank: set in the heart of Kemptown it is a great venue for informal dining, for special occasions or for a spot of alfresco dining. They have a kids menu with games and kids can eat free on Sundays.
Playgrounds & Parks
Preston Park: is the largest urban park in the city with a terrific adventure playground and two cafes. Perfect for various sports activities including the junior park run or simply enjoying a picnic. Due to its size and location, it is used as a venue for concerts, circuses, fairs, and other events throughout the year.
The Level: is a great space for adults and kids. There are lawns to sit and picnic on, playground and water fountains, two cafés, boules, table tennis, and skate park, it also holds various events throughout the year.
King’s Road Playground: An enclosed playground right on the seafront on Marine Parade. The main playground is open all year, with the water fun section open May-September. Ideal for a splash around in the paddling pools.
Queens Park: Just a 10 minute walk from the Royal Pavilion, the adventure playground is always a big hit with the kids. In the centre of the park, there is a large wildlife pond, where you can spot waterfowl such as Geese and Moorhens.
St Ann’s Well Garden: not far from Hove seafront, there is a lovely little café and a children’s play area. The Park Rangers work closely with local schools, providing an area that the children have designed themselves.
Child Friendly Things To Do
Devils Dyke: situated on the South Downs Devil’s Dyke is an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are dramatic views north over the weald and south over the city to the sea. It makes for a wonderful afternoon out for all the family with breath-taking views, extensive walks and a pub restaurant.
Marina Water Tours & Mackerel Fishing: Join the crew for the popular 45 minute coastal cruise and enjoy amazing and unique views of Brighton or try your luck at Mackerel fishing with a number of 90 minute trips leaving daily throughout March to November. Finally, for the thrill seekers, the 25 minute Powerboat trip might float your boat!
Brighton Pier: A trip to Brighton is not complete without a walk along the pier. It’s the typical arcade and theme park rides at the far end along with fish n chips and other food stalls. It’s wonderful to walk along at night for the view, especially as the sun is setting.
Sea Life Centre: Situated right on the sea-front next to Brighton’s iconic pier, SEA LIFE Brighton is the World’s oldest operating aquarium and provides a fascinating insight into life below the waves.
Brighton Marina: Brighton Marina offers a range of activities for visitors – bowling, a cinema, a range of water sports, casiono, shopping and eateries, within the backdrop of a quayside location. The Marina also offers the bonus of free parking (time restrictions apply), in addition to 24 hour public transport. A great place for Sunday lunch by the marina side.
Build-a-Bear Workshop: Build-a-bear workshop allows you to create your own fully personalised stuffed animal. With more than 30 furry friends to make and hundreds of outfits and accessories to choose each Build-A-Bear experience is a new one and can keep the kids entertained for hours.
